  • Glimmerglass Festival 2024

The Glimmerglass Festival is proud to announce programming for the 2024 season, running July 22 through August 20, 2024. The Festival invites you to immerse yourself in myth, mystery, and adventure as the repertory for the 2024 season explores the connection between identity and illusion.

The 2024 Glimmerglass Festival’s mainstage productions will include Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance, Cavalli’s La Calisto, Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci, and Kevin Puts and Mark Campbell’s Elizabeth Cree. Whether through comedy, tragedy, absurdity, or mystery, each work probes the dynamic between authenticity and artifice, leading to questions about the true nature of self and the masks worn to align with societal expectations or personal desires.

The Festival will also feature the world premiere of the youth opera Rumpelstiltskin and the Unlovable Children by Jens Ibsen and Cecelia Raker and an exciting new works initiative called Project Pipeline. Curated by Artistic & General Director Rob Ainsley, Project Pipeline will give voice to rising artists while giving patrons an inside glimpse at the creative process.

Glimmerglass welcomes international star Tara Erraught as Artist-in-Residence for the 2024 season. The mezzo-soprano, extolled by The New York Times as having “a beautifully formed mezzo-soprano voice” and by The Independent of Ireland for her “high wattage charisma,” will star in Elizabeth Cree, as well as provide mentorship for the Young Artists Program.

Complete artistic teams, casting, events, concerts, and guest appearances for 2024 will be announced in the coming months. All dates are subject to change. For more information, visit

Current subscribers can renew for the 2024 season beginning tomorrow July 19, 2023, at 10 am. New subscriptions go on sale Oct 2, 2023, and single tickets will be available on January 22, 2024.
